Census Center

The FIU Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center is a Census Information Center (CIC) through the U.S. Census Bureau.

The Census Bureau's CIC program was established in 1990 to create an effective vehicle for the dissemination of information and data produced by the Census Bureau to underserved communities. By entering into this agreement, the CIC becomes an official source of Census Bureau data, has access to Census Bureau data products, and receives technical support using appropriate technologies.

This relationship is necessary and essential to further the mission of the Commerce Department in that it will provide the public with access to Census Bureau data. It also develops a partnership for the promotion and support of all Census Bureau data collection programs.

The FIU Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center uses Census data in our research, reports, briefs, infographics, and presentations.

Dr. Ilcheva leads the Census Information Center at the Metropolitan Center, one of 48 such centers established by the U.S. Census Bureau for the dissemination of information and data produced by the Census Bureau to underserved communities.
