The FIU Metropolitan Center and University of Miami have partnered to establish the South Florida Housing Studies Consortium. The focus of the SFHSC is on affordable housing studies and strategies, with the objective to provide solutions for the local community.
"We are excited to create a new forum for cutting-edge research and technical assistance that promotes the development of local policies and programs that address housing issues and exemplify holistic community development principles," said Dr. Ned Murray, Associate Director of the Metropolitan Center at FIU.
SFHSC first project will be in partnership with the Miami-Dade County Public Housing and Community Development Department. The Consortium will provide advice "for the revitalization of the Liberty Square housing development" (PR News Wire). This project seeks to revamp the second oldest public housing project in the nation.
