FIU Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center
In June 2019, Florida International University received a $1 million endowment gift from developer and philanthropist Jorge M. Pérez through the Related Philanthropic Foundation. In recognition of this transformative transformational naming gift, the university officially renamed the center as The Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center. The landmark donation was designed to bolster the center's capacity to deliver data-driven urban policy research, community assessments, and economic development solutions throughout South Florida, aligning with Pérez’s commitment to empowering local communities and addressing critical regional issues such as affordable housing and urban growth.
This contribution has provided funding for undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of majors, with a focus on urban policy, consistent with the Related Group's roots in affordable housing and community development.
